Ideas for Using Large Square Glass Bowls

Square glass bowls are versatile decorative items.

When it comes to versatile decorative items, large square glass bowls are hard to beat. Available in a variety of sizes, colors and weights, square glass bowls can add sophistication or whimsy to a room depending on where they are placed and what they contain. Whether they are one-of-a-kind, custom bowls created by a glass artist or inexpensive mass-produced pieces, owning a selection of square glass bowls gives you plenty of options for decorating, storage and entertaining.

Centerpieces

Large square glass bowls are ideal for creating dramatic centerpieces. If your bowl has high sides, use it as a vase and fill with a dramatic flower arrangement. Choose flowers with large, showy petals, such as hydrangeas, dahlias or sunflowers, to match the scale of the bowl. Place one on the vanity to hold guest towels, or if your bowl is especially large, use it to hold extra bath towels. Fill the bowls with bath supplies including cotton balls and cotton swabs, or colorful bars of soap.

Serving Dish

If your square glass bowl is of a substantial weight, you can use it as a base for a serving appetizers or desserts. Turn the bowl over and place a plate on top of it; be sure that the plate will not tip over when items are removed from it. Use several bowls to create a dramatic serving area, and add color and drama by filling the bowl with colorful fruit or flowers before putting the plate on top.
