United Church of Christ Scholarships
Made up of over 1.2 million members and 5,600 congregations, the United Church of Christ denomination embraces diversity, inclusion and acceptance. According to the UCC, it was the first church to ordain an African-American pastor, an openly-gay person and a woman, as well as the first church to accept same-sex marriages. Along with social missions, the UCC reaches out to student members by offering college scholarships.

UCC Headquarters
-
Scholarships for UCC members often come directly from the United Church of Christ headquarters. The UCC offers three scholarships for college students, including a general scholarship, one for disabled students and one for Latino students. Seminarian students also qualify for ten different scholarships. College scholarships range from $500 to $1,000. Applicants must be UCC members and submit letters of recommendation from an academic adviser and home congregation pastor. Recipients of a seminarian scholarship receive $500 to $5,000, depending on the award and must be UCC members attending a UCC-sponsored seminary.
Local Congregations
-
A number of local United Church of Christ congregations also provide scholarships for students. The Union United Church of Christ in Norfolk, Virginia, offers the Gail Hughes-LaMondue Scholarship that provides high school seniors with tuition assistance. Named for long-time Union UCC member, Gail Hughes-LaMondue, who lost her battle to breast cancer, the award is open to members of the Union UCC Church. The scholarship provides $1,000 to a graduating high school senior for the first year of college and $500 each year until the student graduates from college.

UCC-Related Colleges and Universities
-
The United Church of Christ partners with 16 colleges and universities across the United States to provide students attending those schools with scholarship money. At Defiance College in Ohio, students, who are also UCC members, can receive up to $2,000 as part of the United Church of Christ Award. Students must receive official verification from a church official at their home church to be eligible for the award.
Other Christian Schools
-
United Church of Christ student members who attend other non-UCC Christian schools can also find scholarships. Students at Union Bible College and Academy in Westfield, Indiana, who are United Church of Christ members, qualify for the Rev. Ray Williams Memorial Scholarship, worth full tuition. Students must be enrolled in the ministerial program at Union to be eligible for the award. At Boston University's School of Theology, students preparing to work in ministry in a UCC church can receive tuition money through the Hale Donation Scholarship. Scholarship amounts vary depending on the student's financial needs and preference is given to students from Tolland County, Connecticut.
