Advent Gifts for Him
Advent calendars are a custom observed by some Christians in which they create a 24-day calendar that leads up to Christmas. This calendar is primarily intended for children, and in many cases it is constructed so that each day has a small gift inside a door or on a shelf. These gifts are usually small, very inexpensive items. For the small boy in your family, there are a number of things you can choose as Advent gifts.
-
Toys
-
Choose a few small toys to use as Advent gifts. This can be things like small action figures of the sort given away in some fast-food restaurants. Or you could put a few green plastic toy soldiers in sealed plastic bags and wrap them. Another good choice would be marbles, especially the fancy metal ones. Super-bouncing balls would also work. You can buy things like this at a discount or dollar store, or you can search yard sales for small toy gifts.
Treats
-
Find some individually wrapped candies or other treats. Try small, wrapped chocolates, gum or hard candy. Since it is Christmas, little candy canes would be a good choice. Alternatively, you can bake your own cookies and treats as gifts, but make sure they will keep for almost a month unrefrigerated. You should also make sure that you wrap them completely or put them in airtight bags.

More Expensive
-
Select one or two slightly more expensive items to mix in with the less expensive ones. This might include a ticket to a movie he wants to see. If he uses the computer a lot, you might get him a $10 flash drive. You could also buy a gift card for his favorite fast-food restaurant.
Chore Waiver Cards
-
One type of gift that won't cost you a dime is a chore waiver card. If your boy is responsible for a variety of chores around the house, print out a set of 10 cards that allow him a waiver of one specific chore each, such as washing the dog or taking out the trash. Each would be good only once, non-negotiable and redeemed by you.
