Activities With Chocolate Kisses for Mother's Day

Chocolate kisses make great crafts, gifts or activities for any holiday, including Mother's Day.

Children love to create hands-on gifts for their mother on Mother's Day, and they love even more gifts that involve a few leftover treats such as chocolate kisses. Chocolate kisses work well for craft activities and projects because they are individually wrapped, small and glittery due to their silver metallic wrapper. Depending on the skill level, kids can use kisses art, packaging or simply as a handful of chocolates.

  1. Flower Vases

    • Flowers are a classic gift for Mother's Day. Whether a florist-delivered bouquet or a water glass full of hand-picked daisies, moms love flowers. To combine both flowers and chocolate, fill a decorative glass flower vase with wrapped chocolate kisses and stick one to five cut flowers with long stems in the vase. The flowers will not thrive in a vase of chocolates for long, but you can present them in the chocolate vase and move them to a water-filled vase later on.

    Glued Art

    • Make cards and table decorations by gluing wrapped kisses directly onto stiff paper. Children can make creative handmade cards by drawing a heart shape on a piece of tag board or thick cardboard and gluing wrapped kisses along the outline of the heart. Mom can eat them one by one until all that's left are flowering metallic wrappers in the shape of a heart. The only supplies need are paper, crayons or colored markers, glue and kisses. Kids can also glue kisses to small name plates for the dinner table for an upscale family meal.

    Packaging Material

    • An easy way to incorporate chocolate kisses into a Mother's Day gift is to use them as packaging material for other gifts. Kisses are individually wrapped and, therefore, are clean to work with. Place a wrapped present in a box or gift bag, and fill the space around with wrapped kisses. You can also fill a gift basket with wrapped gifts or treats and use wrapped kisses as filler or the bed material to place the gifts upon.

    Breakfast in Bed

    • Use chocolate kisses as a theme for a breakfast in bed. Place unwrapped kisses on top of pancakes, French toast or waffles, and add fresh fruit or whipped cream to create a decadent dessert for breakfast. Add kisses to a bowl of granola, oatmeal or fruit salad for a slightly healthier way to incorporate chocolate, or place a bowl of wrapped or unwrapped kisses next to a hot cup of coffee or hot chocolate for mom to dip into the cup. Sprinkle wrapped kisses around the tray to add a whimsical look, or place a small vase filled with kisses and cut flowers on the tray along with the food and drink.
