Scholarships to Become a Paralegal
Paralegals assist attorneys in organizing documents and researching cases for legal proceedings. They even interview witnesses on occasion. This type of occupation requires a higher level of education that can become quite expensive. Scholarships are available to help students achieve this education who would otherwise not be able to afford it.

Thomson-West Scholarship

The Thomson West-Scholarship rewards students who demonstrate academic excellence and submit high-quality essays related to their specific fields of study. Successful applicants will be members of the NFPA, and may win up to $3,500 to continue their education. Sponsoring the Thomson West-Scholarship is the National Federation of Paralegal Associations.
Hillsborough Community College

Hillsborough Community College, near Tampa, Florida, sponsors the Tampa Legal Secretaries Association scholarship program. This program allows students to obtain full tuition scholarships if they exhibit high academic achievement and show commitment to paralegal studies.

This Michigan-based law firm offers three annual scholarships to students pursuing degrees in the legal disciplines. The scholarships typically range $1,000 to $5,000. The successful applicants must be minorities who maintain an average grade point average. Financial need is a primary driver in determining who receives scholarships.

The Chippewa Valley Technical College in Wisconsin provides several scholarships for its paralegal program. The Rotary Club sponsors a $300 scholarship that includes paralegals. It requires a 3.0 grade point average and is available only to local residents. The Joanne Dow Memorial Scholarship provides $100 to business accounting, marketing or paralegal students who have a strong record of community involvement. The Cheryl Janke Memorial Scholarship provides a $500 scholarship to students with high academic achievement.
