Ideas for Simple, Inexpensive Romantic Dinners
The joy of dating and relationships is spending time with the individual you love. The shared memory of the experience you had together is what grows the bond between two people. And as much as you would like to whisk your loved one away to Paris for an afternoon of shopping, champagne and chocolate, the reality is your finances a role in the type of date you can plan. However, with a little inventive thinking, you can seemingly spare no expense, while making a very rich memory.

The Beach
-
Cheap inexpensive dates are like real estate: location, location, location. The beach offers the natural ambiance of the sun and the surf. Go to the store and purchase a bottle of wine or champagne. Purchase small package of strawberries, blueberries, apples and a small selection of cheeses. Add a single baguette to the mix and voila, you have a ready made beach picnic. Grab a blanket, throw the food in the cooler with some ice packs and take your loved one to the ocean. You can sit and relax on the beach, or be a little more active and even swim during your date. Go during sunset for a little extra ambiance.
Town Concerts
-
Many cities and towns offer concerts periodically through the spring and summer months. These town concerts are usually free or relatively cheap to attend. Go to a local sandwich shop and purchase a couple of nicely made deli sandwiches. Add a few side dishes like red potato salad, or pesto gnocchi on the side. Add a couple of nicely decorated cupcakes and a few sodas and you have a ready made picnic you can bring to the concert. Spread a blanket, kick of your shoes and enjoy the music as it fills the night air.

Fast Food Dinner
-
There is something about the juxtaposition of fine dining with fast food which can be refreshingly endearing. Set the dining room table with the finest china. Complete with water glasses, center pieces and the special tableware you only use at the holidays. Next purchase your favorite fast food meal and serve on the fine china. The idea of a fast food hamburger on designer plates can provide a light romantic mood. Be sure to add candles and a little music from the radio to increase the ambiance.
Campfire Cooking
-
Campfire cooking is a nice way to gaze at the stars while enjoying a lovely meal. Go to a national or state park which has a fire pit. Purchase foil, a type of meat and your favorite vegetables. Wrap the food in foil (see foil cooking recipes in Resources). Next, build a small fire. Place the foil packets in the coals of the fire and allow to cook as per the instructions of the recipe. For instance, chicken will take longer than beef. Potatoes will take longer than broccoli. Bring a telescope and gaze at the stars while the food cooks. Then, after an hour or so, enjoy your foil cooking meal.
