Features for the Serenity Safety Bath Walk-in Bathtub

The baths manufactured by Safety Bath, Inc., a Canadian company headquartered in Ituna, Saskatchewan, are designed especially for disabled and older people. Primary features of these baths are a door, which allows you to walk into your tub; and a molded seat, so you neither have to stand, as with showers, nor sit on the floor, as with most baths. The company's signature model, the Serenity Walk-in Bathtub, offers several additional features. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Dimensions

    • The Serenity is a walk-in bathtub, which means you do not need to climb over the lip of the tub. Instead, you open a door and walk in. The tub is 3 feet long, 2 feet 8 inches wide and 2 feet 5 inches high. It has a molded seat that is 10 1/4 inches higher. It also comes with a 4 1/4-inch booster seat for shorter people. You can remove this seat for additional room. This tub is made of marine-grade fiberglass.

    Swing-out Door

    • The Serenity's door swings outward. This makes it easier for bathers to open the door and enter the tub. The opening is wide enough that a wheelchair can be pushed right up to the entrance, and the bather can step into the tub area. The outward swinging door does not take up space within the tub or the tub opening. You can choose whether you want to the door to swing out from the left or right, depending on which hand is dominant.

    Options

    • You can add a flexible track shower curtain rod or 12-jet warm-air massage system to this bathtub. The massage system blows warm air on you to keep you from getting cold, and it also runs checks on the tub's valves. The system also features a touch-pad control, allowing you to easily control the settings of the tub and jets. You also can eliminate the jets completely, and just use the tub for soaking or bathing. The Serenity tub also comes with a molded corner skirt, which is a type of corner lip.

    Restrictions

    • The Serenity model is only for people less than 6 feet tall and less than 300 pounds. For people who are taller or who weigh more than these limits, the Stretch model is available. The Stretch is exactly the same as the Serenity, but it is for larger people. The Stretch model is 3 feet 4 inches long by 2 feet 8 inches wide by 2 feet 5 inches high.
