Popeye the Sailor Games
The comic book hero Popeye starred in a handful of video games, most of which were released in the earlier days of video gaming. These games include characters from the Popeye universe, including his long-time love Olive Oyl and archnemesis Bluto. Some titles involve fast-paced arcade action, while others delve into other genres, including a racing game.

This quarter muncher from the arcades also was released on early generation video game consoles, such as the Intellivision and Atari 2600. Players maneuver Popeye across a series of platforms on a single screen, trying to catch hearts thrown by the captured Olive Oyl at the top of the screen while dodging Bluto and other obstacles. Much like Pac-Man and his power pellets, players can grab the occasional can of spinach to turn the tables on Bluto and punch him off the screen momentarily.

This 1993 side-scrolling platformer for the Game Boy begins with Olive Oyl finding a treasure map. Before she and Popeye can search for the loot, Bluto interferes with their plans. Popeye must explore a variety of levels to get back his treasure map, interacting with many characters from the comic books along the way and collecting spinach power-ups. The game features both single-player and two-player modes.
