Famous Gathering Places on New Year's
New Year's Eve is the night to find a date, dress up, and go out and party. Every year, hundreds of cities all over the country host New Year's Eve parties, from the famous to the not-so-famous. True, many people choose to stay in on New Year's Eve and spend time with their loved ones or watch the ball drop in Times Square from the comfort of their own beds. But if a night playing board games with the kids doesn't sound like your idea of ringing in the new year there are plenty of places you can go --and go crazy. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Times Square
-
Probably the most famous gathering place on New Year's Eve is Times Square in New York City. Roads are closed, drinks are mixed and celebrity bands, singers and groups perform until the countdown begins and the ball begins to drop. New York City officials estimate that one million people crowd the streets of Times Square every year to watch the famous ball drop from the tower at One Times Square.
Miami Beach
-
While it doesn't have the same atmosphere as Times Square on New Year's Eve, Miami, Florida offers its own spin on New Year's celebrations. Celebrities and partygoers alike flock to the hottest clubs, bars and restaurants to mingle among the famous and the unknown. The temperature is mild, the drinks flow freely and the entertainment is not to be frowned upon. Famous hotels such as the Fontainebleau Miami Beach, home of the infamous "Liv" nightclub are hotspots on New Year's Eve. Celebrities are as common as bartenders and the party lasts until dawn.

Las Vegas
-
"What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" is a quote used by almost every person who has ever been to Vegas. Sin City is the one place where every night feels like New Year's Eve. With nightclubs, celebrities, concerts, parties and enough adult beverages to keep the Titantic afloat, Las Vegas approaches New Year's Eve in the same manner it approaches every other night of the year: big. The Strip is shut down, turning into a giant outdoor party complete with fireworks, food, beverages and thousands of partygoers. The party starts on New Year's Eve and ends at some point on New Year's Day.
Orlando
-
So Orlando isn't a city you were expecting to see on a New Year's Eve party list, but it is one of the top destinations for New Year's Eve partiers with children. Each of the theme parks, most particularly the Magic Kingdom, go all out to make the night special for people of all ages. Mickey and Minnie put on a special show and the midnight fireworks display over Cinderella's Castle at Disney is something your entire family will remember for a lifetime. For those without children in Orlando, Orlando's City Walk is a location filled with clubs, bars and luxury resorts where waitresses walk around the promenade selling drinks and shots from their tray of goodies. Downtown Orlando features even more bars and nightclubs and it's not uncommon to spot a celebrity or two ringing in the New Year with the rest of Orlando.
