Free Scrapbooking Tips for Mini Scrapbooks
A mini scrapbook is one that is less than four inches in any direction. The scrapbook should slip easily into a bag or purse, or be a three-dimensional piece that can be displayed. The most basic miniature scrapbooks are made using small, commercially made albums or journals, but they can be made from any material that will not damage the paper.

Considerations
-
A mini scrapbook is a great place to house some of your smaller photos, or photos that require extreme cropping, in which you cut away most of the photo, leaving only one person or image behind. Although you can use miniature items of all types, such as stickers, brads, tags and papers, you can also trim large pieces down to size. Just because a scrapbook is small doesn't mean that you shouldn't use your favorite archival quality supplies -- you can adapt all the items you use for standard-sized books to mini ones.
Die Cut a Scrapbook
-
Use a personal die cut system like Sizzix to cut both the pages and the covers for a mini scrapbook. Cut the pages from cardstock and use chipboard for the covers. Chipboard is heavy-duty cardboard and is available in any scrapbook or craft store. If you want your covers to be slightly larger than the pages, then you can trace around one of your pages with a pencil, then cut the chipboard to size just outside the lines. Using a die-cut machine enables you to make a book that has uniform page sizes in custom shapes. For example, you can make a pumpkin book for Halloween scrapbooking or an apple book for a "back to school" mini scrapbook.

Use Scraps
-
Save your leftover pieces when you make cards or full-sized scrapbook pages. Keep these odd bits of paper and cardstock in a folder, so when you are ready to make a mini-scrapbook you will have a selection of small papers from which to choose. Do the same thing for embellishments that only have one or two pieces left -- rather than discarding them, save them for your mini scrapbook projects.
Unconventional Mini Scrapbooks
-
Use an Altoid tin or other small vessel to create a scrapbook. You can put loose, accordion fold or bound pages inside. Other unique vessels for mini scrapbooks include bivalve seashells, lockets, muffin tins and tart pans. Give the items you throw away or recycle a fresh look -- they may be useful for making miniature scrapbooks. Clean used items and store them until you are ready to use them for scrapbooking.
