Ringbearer Duties
A ring bearer is a young boy who is part of the bridal party at a wedding. The ring bearer and flower girl are often thought of as a cute aspect of a wedding, but both serve important roles during the ceremony. A ring bearer is generally a relative of either the bride or groom and is dressed in a fancy outfit such as a suit.

Appearance
-
One main duty of a ring bearer is to look cute. When the ring bearer and the flower girl enter the church or temple and begin walking down the aisle, wedding guests turn to watch these two little children. Wedding guests are often caught smiling at the site of the two cute children walking down the aisle carefully trying to accomplish the duties they've been given.
The Rings
-
The ring bearer carries the wedding rings on a fancy pillow down the aisle at a wedding. Generally the rings on the pillow are not the actual wedding rings for the bride and groom, but serve as a symbol of the rings. A ring bearer is often a younger brother, nephew or cousin and is typically between 5 to 8 years old. The ring bearer often walks with or in front of the flower girl. The flower girl tosses flower petals while the ring bearer carries the pillow.

Ceremony
-
If the ring bearer is old enough and mature enough, he may stand up throughout the entire wedding next to the rest of the wedding party. If he is not capable of doing this, he may be seated with his parents in the first pew of the church. After a wedding is finished, the wedding party often forms a receiving line, allowing guests to greet the new bride and groom as well as the other people in the bridal party. A ring bearer generally is not part of this receiving line unless he is mature enough to be able to accomplish this.
Reception
-
A ring bearer and flower girl sit with their parents at the reception, but often dance together when the music starts. This is not a requirement of a ring bearer; however, many couples try to encourage the ring bearer to ask the flower girl to dance.
