Among other causes is dirty charging contacts. If you don't seat the robot in the charging base correctly or don't install the battery correctly, the unit will also not charge correctly.

Check that the power supply is connected to a working electrical outlet, to the Home Base and to the Roomba when charging. The charger and Home Base each have a green light that is lit when charging. Wipe the charging contacts with a clean, dry cloth on the bottom of the robot to see if dirt or debris is preventing the robot from charging correctly. Seat the robot securely on the charging base when charging. If the green light doesn't illuminate, push in the side clips on the robot to remove the battery. Reinsert the battery and listen for the clicks as it sets correctly in place.

Use your Roomba indoors only. Do not use water on the Roomba when cleaning it. Charge indoors only using a standard 110 volt electrical outlet. Do not attempt to charge the unit if it has a damaged cord or plug. Protect the power supply with a surge protector in case of an electrical storm.
