Mabinogi Flash Games

Developed in Korea by the gaming company Nexon, "Mabinogi" made its North American debut in 2008. Since that time, it has gone on to become a popular, well-liked massive multiplayer online roleplaying game, or MMORPG or MMO. Adobe flash is not a requirement in order to play the MMO. However, for those that want to have some "Mabinogi"-related fun outside of Erinn, Nexon offers a few "Mabinogi" flash games on the website. Additionally, Asian "Mabinogi" players created character simulators for fun.

  1. Style Studio

    • Drawing inspiration from the character simulators developed by Korean and Japanese players, Nexon North America incorporated the Style Studio into the website. The Style Studio allows players to play around with the design of "Mabinogi" characters without having to buy a character card first. Players choose the character's gender, age, race, body build and other physical features. From there, players can equip their character with all equipment currently available in the North American version of "Mabinogi." Once done, the character can be posted to the North American website for other users to view.

    Composer

    • "Mabinogi's" Composer feature gives bards a place to create their next great piece. Composer features a virtual keyboard on which composers plan their piece. Tempo, octave, volume and note length can all be altered. Additionally, music can be composed to correspond to specific instruments so that players can develop scores for Jam Band sessions. Players choose from lute, mandolin, ukulele or flute arrangements. They develop the melody and two different chords. Once done, the music can be previewed and shared on the North American site.

    Spot the Difference

    • Spot the Difference appears on the game client, rather than on the website for the game. This game, developed so that players can pass the time while waiting for server maintenance, works the way most spot-the-difference type games work. Players study two different images and click to note differences between the two. Two versions of the game exist -- Puzzle A and Puzzle B. The difference between the two lies in the artwork; Puzzle A offers in-game style artwork, while Puzzle B showcases more stylized game art. Each game consists of 7 levels of increasing difficulty. The game timer decreases when an incorrect area is clicked. Regardless of passing or failing a level, the game progresses. Ultimately, players can earn 49 points total.

    Other Mabinogi Games

    • If the licensed games hold little appeal, character simulators may be more entertaining. Both Korea and Japan feature character simulation websites for "Mabinogi," though the Japanese simulator, Character Simulator 2, features newer material; the Korean simulator Pseudo Mabinogi Character Simulator, for instance, lacks the ability to create a giant character. Many players prefer these simulators to the Style Studio because the simulators feature all equipment from the Asian "Mabinogi" servers, much of which has yet to be implemented in North American "Mabinogi." Players use the simulators to try on desired outfits on their current characters or design their next character before laying down the money for a character card. In order to use the simulators, they must be opened with Internet Explorer that has ActiveX activated. Additionally, a file called mwfre must be installed, located for free from the simulator sites themselves.
