Baptist Association Scholarships
Just as many religious denominations are divided into smaller groups and organizations, the Baptist denomination also groups together churches and congregations into smaller organizations, or associations. There are over 33 million Baptists in the United States, with the Southern Baptist Church and the American Baptist Church acting as the two largest Baptists associations. As part of their missions, many Baptist associations offer a variety of scholarships open to high school, college and seminary students.

High School Students
-
Scholarships from Baptist associations may be designated for graduating high school seniors. The North Carolina Baptists sponsor the North Carolina Baptist Scholarship open to high school seniors who are accepted for full-time enrollment at one of North Carolina's five Baptist colleges and universities. Scholarship awards vary depending on the student's financial need and funding. High school seniors who are members of the Caroline Baptist Association and will be attending either Ouachita Baptist University or Williams Baptist College qualify for the Associational Scholarships.
College Students
-
Baptist associations also offer scholarships for current college students, especially those attending Baptist-related colleges and universities. College students who are part of the Dover Baptist Association qualify for the W. Paul Hepler Scholarship. Scholarship recipients must be members of the Dover Baptist Association and be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at any accredited college or university in Virginia or any Baptist institution out of state.

Church Vocation Students
-
For students wanting to pursue church vocations, Baptist associations also offer scholarships intended specifically for them. The Duck River Baptist Association in Tennessee provides a scholarship for students enrolled in studies to become a pastor, minister of music, minister of education or minister of students. Students must be Duck River Baptist Association members and must also receive letters of recommendations from congregational leaders to be eligible for the award. The Ernest C. and Bonnie B. Gaston Memorial Scholarship from the Birmingham Baptist Association awards scholarship money to a student in a ministry, church-vocation or missionary program.
Baptist Professionals
-
Scholarships can even be found for current professionals who are associated with a Baptist church. The Baptist Communicators Association, a group dedicated to Baptist public relations and communication professionals, sponsors two professional scholarships. In 2011, the Al Shackleford and Dan Martin Professional Scholarship provided up to $1,000 to attend Baptist Communicators Association events. The Alan Compton and Bob Stanley Professional Scholarship gives $500, as of 2011, to be used by current working communications professional for BCA workshops and seminars.
