Job seekers should carefully research a company and position before accepting any offer. While an offer of employment can be a tremendous opportunity, ignoring valid reasons to refuse the job can result in dissatisfaction and problems in the future.

  1. Compensation Package

    • A job seeker may refuse a job offer if the compensation package is below what the individual needs to maintain his lifestyle. For example, if the pay rate requires the job seeker to work more hours to make ends meet, it might be better to wait for a better opportunity. Vacation time, sick time, health insurance and other benefits are also considerations when deciding on a job offer. Candidates may refuse a job offer if they feel the company is a poor fit in terms of culture or atmosphere. The interview process is a good indication of the way the company functions.
