Fundraising Ideas for Youth Baseball

Use your baseball park for a fundraising venue.

Youth baseball teams might need to raise funds for postseason travel or new equipment. Luckily, a team of energetic baseball players can engage potential donors, share why they need money and drum up support for their cause. When choosing a fundraiser for a youth baseball team, focus on ideas that the players can help implement and that will attract a large group of potential donors.

  1. Father-Son Game

    • Let your youth baseball team do what it loves while raising money to bolster the team's coffers. During the offseason or on a weekend when you don't have a game, host a father-son game to raise money. Place equal pairs of fathers and sons on two teams, and let them take to the field. Sell tickets to the event so that mothers and siblings can enjoy watching this family game. Ticket sales can help support your fundraising cause.

    Concession Sales

    • Talk to your ballpark, and ask if your team parents can help out in the concession stand. Often, ballparks allow concession volunteers to take home part of the proceeds to support their team. In other cases, team parents purchase the concession stand items and sell them at a price to make a profit. This fundraiser is easy to organize since parents will be at the ballpark already -- just schedule them for an hour or two before or after your youth baseball team's game.

    End-of-Season Raffle

    • Youth baseball teams can secure donations from local business for items to raffle off at the end of the season. Items like gift cards to restaurants, spas or hotels and gift baskets are items that people will universally appreciate. Sell raffle tickets throughout the season to parents, neighbors and friends. Ticket sales can go toward supporting the baseball team. If the team can't secure donations, then simply do a 50-50 raffle where 50 percent of ticket sales go to the team, while the other 50 percent go to the winner.

    End-of-Season Carnival

    • A youth baseball team can celebrate the end of the season and raise money for the next one by hosting an end-of-season carnival. Throw the event at the ballpark or in a team member's backyard. Set up booths with carnival games and treats like popcorn and cotton candy. Sell tickets to play games and buy food. Proceeds can go toward next baseball season. Have players run the games or sell raffle tickets.
