Greenhouse Supplies & Ideas
A greenhouse can be a lot of fun by allowing you to grow flowers that would never survive outside in your region. A greenhouse is also a lot of work to maintain and keep running efficiently. Make sure that you supply your greenhouse with the equipment necessary to keep your greenhouse humming along like the Cadillac of outdoor garden buildings. Does this Spark an idea?

Blinds and Shades
-
The heat inside a greenhouse can become too much to bear during the summer months. You can block the worst of the sunlight by using blinds or fabric shades. These window coverings can be manipulated using a pulley system so that you can open and close them as needed without much effort.
Low-E Glass
-
A good idea to consider for your greenhouse is the installation of low-emissivity coating on the glass. Better know as low-e glass, this coating manages to reduce the heat without reducing the sunlight. Low-e glass can save both energy and money.

Automatic Vent Openers
-
Installing automatic vent openers inside your greenhouse helps you to control the regulation of air flow. These automatic openers are triggered by a thermostat and are capable of adjusting the ventilation to deal with temperature fluctuations caused by climate conditions and even cloud cover.
Easier Watering
-
Take advantage of faucet installation to help you deal more efficiently with watering in the confined space inside a greenhouse. If you install a faucet every 10 to 12 feet, you can use short hoses that are easier to handle than a long hose you have to try to pull and tug along with you over the entire space inside the greenhouse.
Shade Trees
-
Natural shade for your greenhouse can be supplied by planting shade trees near the greenhouse. Plant some deciduous trees on the south side of the greenhouse. You want the trees to be close enough to provide some shade, but not so close that there is a danger to the greenhouse glass from falling limbs.
Increasing Humidity
-
High humidity is an important element in growing several types of plants inside a greenhouse. You can increase the humidity inside the building by occasionally moistening the floor. Gravel floors will hold the moisture most effectively, but you can even get the humidity going by wetting down a plain concrete floor.
Best Watering Time
-
The best time to water plants inside a greenhouse is early in the morning so that they have time enough to dry before the sun sets. Rather than spraying with a hose that can dislodge or compact soil, you should use a mister or an old-fashioned watering can.
