Baptist Seminary Scholarships
One of the largest protestant denominations in the world, the Baptist church consists of several smaller groups, the largest of which are the Southern Baptist Churches and the American Baptist Churches. Students wishing to obtain a degree from a Baptist-affiliated seminary can choose from almost 30 seminary schools and schools with seminary programs located across the country. Seminary students attending any Baptist seminary can find a number of scholarships from various sources to help pay for the costs of earning a seminary degree.

Baptists Seminaries
-
The best place to look for seminary scholarships is from the seminary school itself. Nearly all Baptist seminaries offer some type of financial aid like scholarships and grants. The Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Georgia offers seven different scholarships for seminary students, some of which are intended for certain students like women and residents of Georgia. Students of the Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in California can apply for scholarships specific to the school's five campuses located across the west coast. Scholarships are available to all students, and some are intended for women, students from certain states and students who are members of certain Baptist congregations.
College and Universities with Seminary Programs
-
Students wanting to obtain a seminary degree also have the option of studying at a general college or university that has a seminary program and receiving scholarship money directly from that school. For Baptist seminary students, the George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University offers the Baptist Church Matching Scholarship. The program allows seminary students to receive donations from a Baptist church, Baptist convention or other Baptist-affiliated group and the school will match the funds up to $1,000 a year.

Baptist Foundations
-
Baptist congregations and members run a variety of private foundations that offer scholarships for Baptist seminary students. To be eligible for foundation scholarships, many times students must be associated with a certain Baptist church or be attending a certain Baptist seminary. The Northwest Baptist Foundation, an arm of the Northwest Baptist Convention, gives away scholarships each year to seminary students who are members of the Southern Baptist Church and are attending a Southern Baptist Seminary.
Baptist Organizations
-
Baptist organizations exist across the country for adults, college students and youth involved in the Baptist church and can also be a source for seminary scholarships. The South Carolina Baptist Collegiate Ministry works on college campuses in South Carolina bringing together Baptist college students for fellowship and also offers the Richard Furman Scholarships for Baptist seminary students. Applicants for the scholarship must be members of a Southern Baptist church and attending one of six Southern Baptist seminaries.
