Activities for the Workplace
Many people spend more time at work than they do at home, and that is why it is important for companies to come up with creative activities for the workplace. It is easy for employees to become bored and complacent, and that can hurt company morale as well as the bottom line. Introducing entertaining activities into the workplace can reduce that boredom and boost productivity.

Team-Building Exercises
-
Getting everyone to work as a team can be a real challenge for companies. Team-building exercises help employees work with one another, and when they do the entire business can prosper. The exact team-building exercises depend on the nature of the company and its business needs, but these activities can be excellent motivators for workers across different departments and different job roles. Employers can challenge other area businesses to a softball game or similar athletic endeavor to build teamwork and cooperation. Businesses can also use games like scavenger hunts through the office to build cooperation and teamwork.
Cubicle Contests
-
Many workers spend more time in their cubicles than anywhere else. Companies can make that home away from home a little more comfortable by sponsoring cubicle-decorating contests. Managers give their employees a set of guidelines about what kinds of decorations are permitted, then turn them loose to create a better working environment. Decorating contests can revolve around a holiday or a special occasion, or managers can use them just to spark creativity and cooperation.

Charity Drives
-
Giving back to the community feels great, and starting a charity drive at work is one of the best ways to get involved and help others. Many companies organize formal charity drives, especially during the holidays. Workers bring in cans of food for the local homeless shelter, buy Christmas presents for needy families and even adopt a family who needs a little extra help. Employees can also participate in charitable fundraising events throughout the year, like walk-a-thons and charity races.
Power Walks
-
Good health is important for both employees and employers. Employees who are in good shape use fewer sick days and suffer from fewer chronic illnesses than their colleagues who are in worse shape. Developing an exercise program is a way to boost employee morale while helping workers lead healthier and more productive lives. One of the best ways to get that needed exercise is with a daily power walk around the grounds or even around the building when the weather is cold or rainy. These power walks can be set for specific times each day to allow everyone to participate and still get their work done.
