Veterinary Travel Scholarships
Veterinary students and practicing veterinarians may qualify for travel scholarships to increase training in their field or specialty. Many of these travel awards allow students to attend annual conferences hosted by veterinary organizations. At these meetings, conference attendees may enhance their professional knowledge through seminars, discussions and talks by leaders in the industry.

L. Dwight Schwartz Travel Scholarship

The American Association of Avian Pathologists sponsors the L. Dwight Schwartz Travel Scholarship, which allows veterinary students studying poultry medicine to attend its annual conference. Applicants must be attending an American Veterinary Medical Association-accredited school and enrolled in a veterinary degree program. Students must have poultry-related experience, including courses in the field, internship or externship, or conducting a research experience in poultry medicine. Attendance at the conference allows students to further their education in the field of poultry medicine.
American College of Veterinary Pathologists

The American College of Veterinary Pathologists offers veterinary travel scholarships for veterinary pathologists or graduate students to attend the ACVP's annual meeting. Eligible candidates must be enrolled full-time in a veterinary pathology graduate or residency program in the United States or Canada. Those chosen for the award must present a platform presentation or poster at the ACVP meeting. Applicants must submit recommendations from their faculty adviser, along with a curriculum vitae and statement of personal career goals.

Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Tufts University

Veterinary students at Massachusetts' Tufts University who belong to the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association may apply for travel grants. These $250 scholarships help offset costs for those students "demonstrating a strong desire to do veterinary-school related travel" in their first through fourth years of vet school. All travel must be completed within one year of the deadline for the scholarship application. All travel arrangements, including lodging, must be made prior to application submission.
Veterinary Orthopedic Education Foundation

The Veterinary Orthopedic Education Foundation offers the Mark Bloomberg award, which provides a $1,500 grant for travel to the VOEF annual meeting. Young investigators planning to submit an orthopedic research abstract to the conference may apply for the Bloomberg award. The foundation also offers $1,500 professional development scholarships, which include funds for education and travel expenses. Surgeons currently in training looking for additional education to increase their knowledge in veterinary orthopedics may apply for the professional development scholarships.
