Lutheran Grants
Branches of the Lutheran church award grants to students, individual congregations and organizations furthering the church's goals and vision. Evangelism, community outreach and disaster relief are among the causes Lutheran grants support. Many are localized, with funding given to groups or individuals from a specific region. Others are national and international in scope.

The Lutheran Foundation
-
The Lutheran Foundation serves a 10 county area in Indiana and awards grants to individuals, educational institutions and congregations. Fostering Healthy Congregation grants promote evangelism, fund initiatives that work toward healthy congregations and enable members of the congregation to support the most needy members of the community. Education grants support Lutheran institutions in the region and the Health Professions Scholarship Program provides funding for college students majoring in the health field. The foundation also funds programs that build healthy communities and perform community outreach.
Lutheran Women in Mission
-
The Lutheran Women's Missionary League operates in the Missouri Synod. The group grants funds to ministries and programs that are mission-oriented, fit the goals of the synod, are ready to implement and will continue successfully after the grant money is spent. Grants are awarded on a biennial basis. Mission grants awarded in the 2009-2011 biennium include emergency disaster aid in Louisiana, Texas and Oklahoma, scholarships for students enrolled at the Ethnic Immigrant Institute of Theology and devotional materials for prison inmates.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans
-
The Thrivent Financial for Lutherans grant program works toward making Lutheran non-profit organizations become sustainable by strengthening their capacity and ability to secure more resources. Lutheran organizations with 501(c)(3) status, or those that fall under the national church's tax-exempt status, qualify for grants. Funds may not be used for reducing debt or covering an operating deficit, capital expenses, lobbying or expenses associated with holding a regional or national meeting. Thrivent Financial works with Lutheran groups, but is not part of the church.
The Lutheran Community Foundation
-
The LCF funds Lutheran projects that address unmet needs and work to create positive and lasting change. The foundation issues requests for proposals periodically from a pool of donor-suggested areas and does not consider unsolicited applications. The LCF funds small-scale initiatives that set communities on a path that reflects the goals of the foundation. It also has a particular interest in projects that address environmental issues, provide disaster response and work toward ending family violence.
