Ways to Enhance the Motivation of Employees
Enhancing motivation efforts for employees can boost productivity, reduce errors and minimize employee turnover. Motivated employees are more likely to notify management of potential problems, ways to optimize processes and creative solutions to current problems. This helps the bottom line of the business since many costs are reduced and productivity improves.
-
Acknowledge Accomplishments
-
By recognizing their accomplishments, you can increase employee morale and motivation. This can be accomplished by emailing a monthly newsletter, posting to an internal blog or placing it on the bulletin board in the break room.
Reward System
-
Employees should feel that the rewards are achievable and fairly awarded, and that management is objective instead of playing favorites. If employees do not feel that the rewards are attainable, then it will not serve as a motivational tool.
-
Career Goals
-
Meet with employees individually to find out what their career goals and objectives are, and then develop a plan for them on how to accomplish those goals. Employees are motivated when they feel that what they are doing now is helping them for the future, rather than feel that they are in a dead-end job.
Clear Instructions
-
Give employees clear instructions and explanations each time they are given a new assignment. Employees lose motivation when they are unsure of what that are supposed to do and what is expected of them.
Delegate Responsibilities
-
If the employee is constantly doing repetitive work, providing them with additional responsibilities can be highly motivating and improve morale. If employees are bored with the level of their work, they are not as motivated to work harder.
