Educational requirements for recruiter positions vary, but a minimum of a bachelor's degree is typically necessary. As of May 2009, recruiters earned an average of $54,530 per year, according to BLS.

Entry-level recruiters with one year of experience or less averaged $29,889 to $38,490 per year as of November 2010. With one to four years' experience, recruiters earned an average of $32,509 to $45,971 annually, while those with five to nine years averaged $39,874 to $58,618. After 20 years' experience or more, corporate recruiters received average annual salaries of $41,858 to $76,756.

The largest employer of corporate recruiters, employment referral and staffing services, paid an average of $53,260 per year as of May 2009. Coal mining and the U.S. Postal Service were the highest-paying employers of recruiters, with average annual salaries of $89,940 and $89,390, respectively. Recruiters employed by scientific and technical consulting companies averaged salaries of $70,910 annually, while those working for computer manufacturing companies received an average of $81,720 per year.

Those who held Bachelor of Science in business management degrees received the highest salaries, at an average of $35,697 to $70,750 per year as of November 2010. With a Bachelor of Arts in communications, recruiters averaged $31,248 to $49,368 annually. Recruiters with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree earned an annual average of $31,444 to $61,042.

The District of Columbia had the highest concentration of corporate recruiters; professionals in the area averages salaries of $54,970 per year as of May 2009. Recruiters who worked in Massachusetts enjoyed the highest salaries, at an average of $65,710 per year. Other high-paying states for recruiters in terms of average annual salaries included New York at $65,180, New Jersey at $64,740, Connecticut at $62,340 and California at $62,110.
