Complete NASDAQ Stock List

The NASDAQ stock exchange is the second major stock exchange in the United States after the New York Stock Exchange. The NASDAQ is home to many of the major computer hardware, software and biotechnology companies. Well known NASDAQ listed stocks include Microsoft, symbol MSFT, Apple, Inc., symbol AAPL and Google, symbol GOOG.

  1. NASDAQ Size

    • The NASDAQ exchange lists almost 3,000 stocks. The size of the companies listed on the NASDAQ range from the exchange minimum listing requirement of a $1.1 million market capitalization up to Apple which, in late 2010, had a market value of more than $280 billion. Data from the World Federation of Exchanges listed the NASDAQ stock exchange with more than $3.6 trillion in total market capitalization at the end of October 2010. This is the value of all the stocks listed on the NASDAQ.

    • The company list page on the NASDAQ website includes all of the stock listings from the New York Stock Exchange and American Stock Exchange as well as the NASDAQ. An easier to use list is provided on the eoddata website. The NASDAQ stocks can be looked up in lists by letter of the alphabet.     Stock List for Download

    • The NASDAQ website does provide the ability to download the list of NASDAQ stocks in comma separated values --CSV--form. Once downloaded the stock list can be opened with spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel or OpenOffice Calc. The list provides IPO date, market capitalization and industry data for each NASDAQ stock. The spreadsheet could be used to sort the stocks by name, symbol, size or industry.

    NASDAQ Stock Symbols

    • NASDAQ listed stocks usually use a four letter stock symbol. This is in contrast to the New York Stock Exchange where most stock symbols have three letters and some long standing stocks on the exchange have one or two letter symbols. The NASDAQ stock list starts the alphabet with the symbol AACC for Asset Acceptance Capital Corp. and ends with ZUMZ, symbol for Zumiez Inc., a sports equipment retailer.
