Resident Appreciation Ideas
As a landlord or a leasing office, it's important to show your residents that you're happy to have them as members of your community. Resident appreciation activities and events help you retain tenants and get them to refer new potential tenants to your housing development. Institute a variety of activities and events that will encourage residents to interact with each other and have fun.
-
Free Laundry Day
-
Laundry expenses, while necessary, can be costly for residents who have large families. If you offer your residents an on-site laundry facility, help them save some money by offering them a free laundry day. Let them know at least a week in advance, so that they have time to plan their schedules to take advantage of the free offer. Stock the laundry room with detergent, dryer sheets, baskets and free, reusable laundry bags. Put your company's logo on the laundry bags to promote your housing complex.
Coffee and Donuts
-
Offer on-the-go residents a morning treat they can enjoy during their treks to work. Place fresh fruit juice, coffee, donuts and bagels in your leasing office and invite residents to come in and grab some breakfast before they head to work or school.
-
Ice Cream Social
-
Your residents will scream for ice cream when you invite them to an ice cream social to celebrate resident appreciation week or day at your housing complex. This evening event will give residents a chance to meet each other and enjoy a treat. Equip your social with a variety of ice cream flavors, cones and toppings such as hot fudge, whipped cream, caramel, chopped nuts and fresh fruit. Offer a healthy option, such as frozen yogurt.
Summer Cookout
-
Break out the grills and prepare hot dogs, hamburgers and salad for your residents to enjoy. Host a summer cookout during the weekend and invite residents, their friends and families to enjoy food and games. Games and activities can include playing volleyball, having water balloon fights, face painting and moon bounces for the children.
Gift Cards
-
Mail each of your residents a personally signed thank you card to show your appreciation. Include a gift card in each resident's card. Residents would enjoy gift cards for gas, restaurants, bookstores, grocery stores, coffee shops, the movie theater or toward their rent. Give each household a gift card from the same store and for the same amount of money to avoid any potential problems.
