SUVs are a popular vehicle choice for consumers with large families or who desire an ample amount of cargo space, but still want to ride in style. While most SUVs seat five to eight passengers, some offer a maximum seating capacity for nine. Though the majority of sport utility vehicles have a reputation as gas-guzzling machines, people who frequently have more than seven passengers at a time need them.

Chevrolet Tahoe

In 1996, the four-door Chevy Tahoe's name and model were derived from its two-door predecessor, the Chevy Blazer. Since then, the Tahoe has been considered a carry-all SUV, providing a considerable amount of cargo space and legroom. Available in six different trims, the 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe is one of two Chevy SUVs that features seating for up to nine passengers or 108.9 cubic feet of maximum cargo space. The option of folding the third row seat makes easy access to the second and third row seats. With 320 horsepower under the hood along with an estimated 20 city and 23 highway miles per gallon and a towing capacity of 8,500 pounds, this SUV allows convenient travel. The standard trim level includes front bucket seats, Bluetooth connectivity, OnStar availability, and XM Radio; upgraded options are available for additional costs.

GMC Yukon XL

The GMC Yukon XL was redeveloped in 2001 to become a full-sized, capacious utility vehicle capable of seating up to nine passengers along with an increase in cargo space. This vehicle is a member of the GMC Yukon line-up which includes the standard Yukon, the Yukon XL, the Yukon Denali, the Yukon Hybrid and the Yukon Denali Hybrid. The Yukon XL is approximately 20 inches longer than the standard Yukon, which also seats up to nine passengers. The 2010 Yukon XL is available in five different trims, and each has its own specific features. All trims are equipped with a V8 engine, 320 to 395 horsepower, a towing capacity of 9,600 pounds and have a combined EPA mileage of 17 miles per gallon. It features a quiet cabin interior, which is a specially installed sound system that provides an undisturbed journey. In addition, it comes equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, standard Bluetooth connectivity, XM Radio and OnStar capabilities.

Chevrolet Suburban

Since its debut in 1936, the Chevrolet Suburban has established a reputation for its quality, durability and longevity. The Suburban has continued to stand as one of the largest sport utility vehicles on the market and has always provided a large, accommodating interior. Like the 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe, the 2011 Chevrolet Suburban 3/4-ton SUV also offers seating for up to nine passengers or permits 137.4 cubic feet of cargo space with 9,600 pounds of towing capability. Two trims are available: the LT and the LS. Both trims are driven by a V8 engine, have 320 to 352 horsepower and a four-wheel drivetrain. The Suburban's improved fuel economy of 21 highway miles per gallon allows more efficiency and gives 650 miles in between fill-ups. Even though the measure of the Suburban's utility often gives the impression of a "work truck," its interior is widely recognized as posh and contemporary, delivering comfortable passenger accommodations.
