The iPhone is capable of sensing ambient light and adjusting the brightness of the display accordingly. The light sensor is embedded in the handset and, without Apple's proprietary toolkit, attempting to remove the light sensor will permanently damage your phone. However, you can disable the light sensor's function through the iPhone's operating system. Doing so will disable the light sensor and maintain consistent lighting on the display.

Step 1

Turn on and unlock your iPhone to access the "Home" screen.

Step 2

Tap the "Settings" icon, which resembles a gray gear.

Step 3

Tap "Brightness" in the Settings menu.

Step 4

Toggle the switch beside "Auto-Brightness" to the "OFF" position. You can move the brightness meter to the left or right to adjust the brightness of the display. The level you choose will now remain constant.
