The city of Biloxi, Mississippi, is about 90 minutes from New Orleans as you travel along the Gulf Coast. Although it is best known for its casinos, Biloxi and the nearby city of Gulfport have many attractions for kids. With the beautiful coastline and warm weather, it is an ideal location for a family vacation.

Fun Centers

The Big Play Family Fun Center (bigplayfamilyfuncenter.com) will thrill kids of all ages with go-karts to race around, bumper cars that spin around, water balloon games that use a launching device, 36 holes of miniature golf, an arcade and lots of food. Island Strikz Bowling (islandstrikz.com) is just 8 miles down the road from Biloxi in Gulfport. It features a family friendly bowling environment along with a snack bar and an arcade. Kids will enjoy the opportunity to bowl for fun or even join a league.

Museums and Sightseeing

The Biloxi Tour Train (biloxitourtrain.com) runs through historic downtown on an open-air guided tour of some of the more significant landmarks of the area. Kids will enjoy the ride and get a history lesson along the way. The Maritime and Seafood Museum (maritimemuseum.org) has historical displays depicting the stories of maritime activities in Biloxi. Some of the exhibits include shrimping, wetlands, oystering and marine blacksmithing. It offers year-round educational programs and a summer camp for kids. The Biloxi Lighthouse (biloxi.ms.us/museums/biloxilighthouse) might be of interest to the kids because they can take a guided tour of this 160-year-old historic site.

Parks

Classes

Lanier's Gymnastics (laniersgymnastics.com) offers a complete selection of gymnastics classes for kids. It has parent-tot classes, preschool gymnastics, tumbling classes and recreational classes. Tumbling and cheer classes are also available.
