How to Dispose of a Sharp Drum Cartridge

Save

Like toner cartridges, your Sharp laser printer's drum is also recyclable via Sharp's Recycling program. The program provides a safe way of disposing the drum instead of placing the component in your home or office's trash can. The recycling program provides a free recycling kit that includes a pre-addressed shipping label and supplies for properly packing your used drum. You can even send used toner cartridges along with the drum to Sharp's Recycling center.

Recycling Kit

  • Sharp's Bulk Recycling Kit consists of three pre-addressed cartridge collection/shipping boxes, three plastic bags to line the boxes and three zip ties to close the liner prior to shipping. The boxes can accommodate toner cartridges as well as Sharp drums. To order a Sharp Bulk Recycling Kit, navigate your Internet browser to the "Toner Recycling" link (see Resources) and enter your personal information into the fields under the "Enter your Contact Information" heading. Click the "Submit" button to send the request. You will receive the kit in the mail within the month.

Packaging

  • Once you receive your Sharp Bulk Recycling Kit, assemble one of the shipping boxes according to the instructions included in the kit. Place one of the bags included in the kit inside of the box and close the box's top flap. Place the Sharp drum you want to recycle into the bag-lined box. Use a zip tie to close the bag, and then close the box. Use shipping tape to seal the box.

Postage Paid

  • The boxes within the Sharp Bulk Recycling Kit are postage paid and don't require any additional postage of labeling. If you decide to use your own box to ship your Sharp drum to the recycling center, you are responsible for shipping charges. If using your own box, address a shipping label with the following address:

    Sharp Recycling

    2051 Meridian Place
    Hebron, KY 41408

Mailing

  • Once your Sharp drum is packaged in one of the Sharp Bulk Recycling Kit's boxes, take the box to your area FedEx shipping center or an authorized FedEx shipping center like FedEx Office, OfficeMax, Office Depot or Staples. If using your own box, take the box to your area United States Postal Service branch, FedEx or other shipping service center for mailing. You can also call 866-265-6906 to schedule a FedEx pick up if you do not have a FedEx or other shipping service center in your area.
