Kodak ESP3 SE Paper Feed Problems

The Kodak ESP 3 printer series is designed to print photographs on glossy paper, though the printer can also accommodate regular paper. Feed problems occur when your printer cannot successfully push one sheet of paper through the machine. The most common reason for a feed issue is that the printer is unable to grab one sheet at a time.

  1. Printer Position

    • For your Kodak All-in-One-Printer to feed paper properly, it must be on a flat, level surface when you initiate the print. If the printer is on carpet, the edge of a table or any other unstable surface that causes it to tip forward or backward, the paper may get stuck in the mechanism that pushes it through the printer. Moving it to a tabletop or hard flooring should solve the problem.

    Overloading

    • Overloading your Kodak ESP 3 with paper makes it difficult for a single sheet to get pulled from the stack. As a result, the printer may grab multiple sheets and get jammed. If you're using regular paper, the maximum number of sheets allowed in the tray is 100; for photo paper, it's 30 sheets. The printer may struggle to feed paper if you load more than one type simultaneously, so you shouldn't mix regular and photo paper together in the tray.

    Curled Paper

    • Sheets of paper that have begun to curl under around the edges may not feed properly through your Kodak printer. To resolve the issue, you can place the paper into a plastic bag and bend it in the opposite direction. Being gentle with the paper will help you avoid creating a permanent crease in the sheets. If necessary, rolling creased paper in the opposite direction of the crease and holding it for a few minutes will straighten it.

    Tray Extension

    • The paper tray on your ESP 3 printer must be fully extended to avoid feed problems. When the tray isn't pulled out all the way, the paper may sit too far inside the printer, causing a jam when the printer attempts to grab a sheet. The lines on the tray show you where to insert new paper.
