Does IMVU Pop Up All Over Your Screen?
The IMVU client can be launched in full-screen mode, so that it pops up and fills your entire computer screen, but you can also adjust it to play in window mode. By running the application in its own window, you can access other programs running on your computer and view portions of your desktop. For example, you can keep an eye on instant messaging windows, even if you have sound notifications turned off.

“Full-screen mode” is the term that describes any application running in a window that takes up your entire screen and obscures your desktop along with other running programs. IMVU's game and chat windows open to full-screen by default, but you can change the size of the window as well as panes within the window.
Changing Window Size

To resize the IMVU window, you simply click on the lower right corner of your chat or other window and drag it to the desired size. Alternatively, you can click on the "Maximize" or "Minimize" box in the upper right corner to maximize the chat window to full-screen mode or minimize it to the taskbar. You can maximize any of these windows later on as needed.

Working with Full Screen

Should you prefer to chat or play in IMVU using full-screen mode, you can use the "Alt + Tab" key combination to switch to other open windows in the background rather than changing the window size. This keyboard shortcut also works with other games and programs running in full screen; it will display small thumbnails of your other open programs, and you can tab to bring any of these windows to the front. In Windows 7, a similar keyboard shortcut is available: press “Windows + Tab" to display larger thumbnail previews.
IMVU Popups

If you are experiencing IMVU popup windows on your screen and you don’t have the IMVU client installed, the popups may be advertisements on the websites you are visiting. Most modern-day browsers can be configured to block up popup ads from displaying, and doing this will eliminate the ads from popping up all over your screen. Note that IMVU will not install on your computer unless you register and manually download the application.
