Problems With Mini Laptop Display Resolution
The screen of a mini laptop has a much lower resolution than that of a full notebook laptop. This compromise is necessary to keep the price of the computer low. Although the screen of your mini laptop is small, the display should never appear stretched or distorted. If you find its video quality unacceptable, you may resolve this by installing a software update or changing the computer's configuration.

Scrolling Screen
-
A mini laptop usually has a ten-inch screen with a display resolution of 1024 by 600 pixels. However, some programs do not run at display resolutions under 1024 by 768 pixels. To allow these programs to run, many mini laptops also support the 1024 by 768 pixel display resolution. When operating in this mode, the screen scrolls when you move the mouse pointer to the top or bottom edge. However, you cannot see the entire desktop simultaneously. You can resolve this by changing the display resolution.
Low Resolution
-
If you have formatted your mini laptop and re-installed Windows, the computer may use a low display resolution because the device driver for the laptop's video adapter is not installed. Images on the screen may appear enlarged, or the desktop may only consume a portion of the screen. You can locate the device driver for the video adapter on the computer manufacturer's website. After you install the driver, you can select a new display resolution.

Image Problems With External Display
-
An external display such as a high-definition television or computer monitor may have a much higher display resolution than your mini laptop. When you connect your mini laptop to an external display, the low display resolution may cause text to appear blurry or stretched. You can resolve this issue by changing the resolution after connecting your mini laptop to an external display. If you are unable to select a higher resolution, update the device driver for the computer's video adapter.
Changing Screen Resolution
-
In Windows 7, you can change the screen resolution by right-clicking the desktop and selecting "Screen Resolution" on the menu. Choose a new display resolution in the next window; then click "OK" to confirm it. If your mini laptop runs Windows XP, you can change the resolution by right-clicking the desktop and selecting "Properties." Click the "Settings" tab in the next window, select a new display resolution using the slider and click "OK" to confirm it.
