Tips for VSO PhotoDVD
VSO Photo DVD is a program that lets you put together custom slideshows from image files on your computer. Basic program usage is fairly straightforward; users follow on-screen prompts and work their way through the program's five steps. However, there are advanced options if you want to create something a bit nicer or more complicated than a basic slideshow.

Subtitling
-
Adding subtitles to your slideshow is useful for more than just the hearing-impaired. You can add subtitles as a sort of "footnote" to explain what's being displayed. You can also use subtitles to add titles. To use subtitles in VSO PhotoDVD, open the "Settings" menu at the top of the screen, and click "Subtitles." From here, you can add one of three different subtitle tracks in different fonts, colors and sizes. You can also automatically print the file name of each photo by selecting the "Generate a Subtitle Track Using the Photo Filename" option near the bottom of the window.
Pre-arranged Slideshows
-
If you've previously put together a slideshow, you don't have to redo the whole process. By opening the "Tools" menu and clicking "Burn an Already Compiled Project," you can select a pre-existing folder. Then, you can continue the burning process by clicking the "Next Step" button.

Useful DVD Settings
-
Although the default settings are usually fine, you'll want to double-check them, especially if you're not using a standard television. To access DVD Settings, open the "Settings" menu at the top of the screen and click "DVD Settings." The first option you'll see is "Video Standard." By default, the video standard is set to NTSC, which is compatible with televisions in the United States, Canada, Japan and most of South America. However, if you are in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Russia or certain countries in South America such as Brazil, you'll want to change this setting to "PAL" using the drop-down menu. From the DVD Settings screen, you can also change the default menu settings and whether you want your slideshow to utilize chapters. If you enable automatic chapters, DVD chapters will be generated for every two minutes of your slideshow, so that you can easily skip ahead. You can change the length of each chapter using the up and down arrows under the "Chapters" heading.
Picture Tips
-
A slideshow is only as good as the pictures it uses. Try to pick high-quality pictures that have roughly the same size. Also, keep in mind what order the pictures will go in. If you want more or less time between pictures, or you have another issue with the transitions, click the "Fast Preview..." link in Step 1. From here, you can change transition type, transition duration and image display time. The "Movement" tab adds some movement to the image, which can help to create a dynamic presentation.
