Utorrent 1.8.2 is Not Working
UTorrent is a free application that allows you to download files using the BitTorrent protocol. With uTorrent, you can achieve high download speeds by leveraging the unused bandwidth of other computer users. However, if the health of a torrent is poor or your computer's hard drive has an issue, you may experience problems when using uTorrent.

Dead Torrent
-
BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer file sharing protocol; it relies on the presence of other users who have and are sharing intact copies of the file you are trying to download. If the torrent is old or unpopular, few people may still be sharing it. In uTorrent, you may experience poor download speeds when this is the case. You may also be unable to download the complete file. You can see the number of people sharing a torrent by examining the "Health" meter in uTorrent or by clicking the torrent and then clicking the "Peers" tab at the bottom of the window.
System Requirements
-
UTorrent may not install successfully on your computer if it does not meet the system requirements. UTorrent works on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. It also works on Mac computers running Mac OS X 10.5 and later. If you are unable to install uTorrent on an unsupported operating system, upgrade your operating system or look for a website hosting the file as a standard HTTP download.

Hard Drive Errors
-
If your computer has a slower hard drive, it may occasionally be unable to write data at the rate that your computer downloads it. This is particularly common when first initiating a download. When this happens, uTorrent displays the error message "Disk Overloaded." You can clear the error by minimizing usage of the computer until the hard drive catches up. In other cases, uTorrent may be unable to save data because of a problem with the hard drive. When this happens, uTorrent displays the error "Data Error (Cyclic Redundancy Check)." This may indicate a failing hard drive; you can confirm this by running a program that checks the hard drive for integrity. You can usually find this at the manufacturer's website.
Unable to Save the Resume File
-
When you close uTorrent, it creates a file that allows you to continue your unfinished downloads the next time you use the program. If uTorrent is unable to create this file, it displays the error message "Unable to save the resume file." You can resolve this issue by deleting the "uTorrent" folder in your computer's Application Data directory, then removing and re-installing the application. You can also resolve it by locating the folder on your computer containing the file "utorrent.exe" and creating two new files called "settings.dat" and "resume.dat." Upon re-installing uTorrent, you may need to add your unfinished torrents to the queue again.
