My Apple Motion Keeps Freezing
Apple Motion allows you to create 3-D effects to enhance video clips and animations; however, it usually freeze, crashes and closes unexpectedly if you're using an incompatible computer system or if the program is corrupt or damaged. Motion is a CPU and RAM-intensive program because it handles large files and performs intricate tasks such as 3-D compositing and tracking. If it isn't performing as expected, Apple provides solutions to common problems.

Compatibility
-
Apple Motion usually freezes and crash frequently if the program is installed on a computer that doesn't meet its minimum system requirements. Different versions of Motion require different hardware requirements to function properly; however, if you're using the latest version, a computer with a minimum of 2GB RAM is ideal; however, 4GB RAM is recommended to improve performance. In addition, a display with 1280-by-768 resolution or higher, and an Intel HD Graphics 3000 of newer card is necessary to improve performance. If you install Apple Motion on a computer that doesn't meet these minimum system requirements, the program may work; however, you will run into consistent freezing problems because Motion requires a compatible computer system to process 3-D effects.
Damage
-
In some cases, Apple Motion will freeze and crash unexpectedly if one or more of the program's files are damaged or corrupt. This usually happens if one or more applications interfere with the program, or if you accidentally deleted vital files. If Motion isn't performing as expected, deleting the user settings restores the program back to its original settings. It's a simple process that solves many issues. Click Finder on the dock to launch a new Finder window, and then click the Home folder. Open the Library folder, and then open the Preferences folder. The "com.apple.motion.plist" file is stored in this folder. If you drag the file to the Trash, the Motion user preference settings are automatically restored to the default state.

Your Mac automatically connects to the Apple server to search for software and system updates. If an update for Motion or a system update is available, follow the guided instructions to install them.
Reinstall
-
If Apple Motion is still freezing or crashing, the last and final resort is to uninstall it and reinstall a new copy. Reinstalling the program repairs damaged or missing files. Open a new Finder window, and then click Applications to display installed programs. Locate the Motion icon and drag it to the trash to uninstall the program safely. When the uninstall completes, go to the following folder: /Library/Receipts. Locate all the receipts that begin with "Motion" and drag them to the Trash.
