The Top Ten Recommended ICANN Domain Name Registrars
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is a non-profit corporation that was created in 1998 on behalf of the United States government by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA,) to keep the Internet stable, secure and fair. ICANN oversees the Internet’s systems of domain name registrations, as well as the coordination of Internet Protocol address spaces and Internet policy development regarding the DNS root name server system. Every registrar accredited with ICANN pays a fixed fee of $4,000 plus a variable fee. ICANN keeps track of how many domain names have been registered with each company, however, new companies can be added at any time; therefore, the list of popular registrars fluctuates.
