What Is Replay AV?

Replay AV, part of the Replay Capture Suite from Applian, records live and archived streaming Internet radio and TV, from streams formatted as Windows Media, Real, Quicktime, Flash and MP3 files. The program includes features that locate streaming media and record audio and video from websites. You can also use the program to record from external sources.

  1. Replay Media Guide

    • As a regularly updated compendium, the Replay Media Guide includes more than 1,300 Internet radio shows, 6,500 radio stations, 97,000 podcasts and 400 Internet TV stations as of late 2011. When you pick a program from the guide, the show's information, including its name and schedule, is automatically added to Replay AV. It also lets you choose the format to save the file on your computer and can split the recording into multiple files based on length.

    Replay URL Finder

    • The Replay URL Finder lets you record streaming audio and video from websites that are not in the Media Guide. You can also use it to download streaming media from sites such as YouTube or Google Video. To use the URL Finder, you activate the function, open a Web browser and navigate to the location of the streaming media. When the media plays, the URL Finder extracts the URL of the stream and lets you add it as a streaming source to Replay AV.

    Other Sources

    • Replay AV also records from non-streaming sources, including your speaker output, microphone input or the line-in jack on a computer sound card. If you have a subscription to online streaming services from Sirus or XM satellite radio, you can use Replay AV to log into the service and record a specific channel live or at a scheduled time or day. The program splits and converts recorded streams as needed.

    Compatibility

    • Replay AV is compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Windows 7. If you use a Mac, and have a virtual installation of any of these versions of Windows, the program will run on your computer. A demo version of Replay AV on the Applian website restricts you to recording five minutes of streaming audio or 5MB of streaming video.
