The Left Margin of My Email Is Cut Off During Printing

Printing email can be made more difficult for a number of reasons.

Any of several things can cause the left margin to be cut off when printing an email, most of which are easily fixed. Whether printing from a laptop or desktop computer or a mobile device, such as a smartphone, ensuring the devices involved in the printing process are properly connected and activated should be the first of your troubleshooting efforts.

Computer Settings

Your printer’s settings can cause a variety of printing issues, including cutting off the left margin of an email. Adjust your printer’s settings by interfacing with the device through your computer’s printer settings, which allows you to set the margins for the printed documents that the device produces. If the left margin is cut off when printing an email, adjust the printer’s left margin setting to a smaller dimension. For instance, if the printer’s left margin setting is at 1 inch, adjust it to a half inch, which will give more leeway for printing all of the email’s content.

Browser Settings

If you are printing an email from an online email client, such as Yahoo or Gmail, you may need to adjust the browser’s settings to print the entire email without cutting off the left margin. Do this by choosing to print the email, then going to the print preferences option from the print interface screen. Depending on your operating system, you will be able to choose either to scale the email’s content to fit the paper size or to adjust the paper size setting to a smaller format, which should resolve the margin-printing issue. Here you will be able to adjust the four margin settings, which should allow you to print the email’s entire contents.

Paper Feed

Sometimes, the left margin being cut off while printing an email can be the result of paper jams or mis-feeding by the device’s paper feed. Usually, your computer will inform you when this is the case, but with older operating systems and computers, you may not get a notification. If you suspect this is the situation with your misprinted emails, check the printer’s paper tray or open the device to look for mis-fed or jammed papers.
