The nuvi 350 has two types of storage. The first is for files stored by the company that are needed for the basic features of the GPS system. Users do not have access to store their own files in this part of the device. It includes the City Navigator NT, which includes maps and navigation instructions down to the street level. These files also contain listings of United States, Canadian and Puerto Rican hotels, restaurants, ATMs and other local facilities. The second type of storage is the internal memory that you can use to store your own files.
Travelers use the nuvi 350 handheld GPS system for its entertainment features and to keep from getting lost. To enable storage of certain files, the nuvi 350 has a limited amount of internal memory. Knowing the internal memory size helps you navigate and enjoy the nuvi 350's digital entertainment features without depleting memory resources.
Types of Storage
The nuvi 350 comes equipped with about 700 MB of user-accessible internal memory. However, you can expand this size by adding an optional SD card.
There are several types of files you can store in the internal memory. They include MP3 files, supplemental maps, AA audible book files, JPEG images, GPI custom POI files, maps from MapSource and GPX waypoint files from MapSource.
Depending on how many files you intend to store, you could end up using all of the memory capacity of the nuvi 350. If you want to include additional maps, for example, you may not have enough memory left if you have filled your nuvi 350 with too many MP3 or audio files. In that case, you can either use an SD card to add memory or limit storage to the most important files by prioritizing them.
To use more memory than the standard available amount, connect an SD card to the nuvi 350 through a card slot. SD card manufacturers include Patriot, SanDisk and Kingston, and as of the time of publication, the cards retail for about $10 to $20 and contain 2 or 4 GB of memory. Make sure to read a card's specifications to confirm that the card is compatible with the nuvi 350.
