Lexar Secure II Problems
The Lexar Secure II is a USB flash drive released in 2007 as an upgrade from the original Secure line. The only difference between it and its predecessor is a visual capacity meter that lets users easily monitor its disk space. Otherwise, it is a near duplicate device that suffers from the same range of issues, including issues with its included software suite, Secure Software, as well as issues with incompatible operating systems and write protection.

Operating System Problems
-
The Lexar Secure II JumpDrive is not compatible with Windows 98, 98SE and ME operating systems, but it can still be used with such PCs as a Mass Storage Device. If you install the included drivers on your computer, however, you will encounter an "MFC42U.dll" error. Resolving this requires that you delete the Secure Software suite from the drive and then reformat it. Another option is to just delete the "autorun.inf" file. However, if the latter doesn't work, you will need to reformat.
Write Protection Problems
-
If you are unable to delete the secure partition via the Disk Management application, you will need to upgrade the firmware on the Lexar Secure II to version 2.0.0.1. To do this, first back up all the drive's content to your desktop. Next, right-click the drive from "My Computer," select "Format" and then click the "Quick-Format" option. From here, you need to download the driver files from Lexar and install them onto the drive.

USB Port Problems
-
If the Lexar Secure II JumpDrive works on your computer's rear USB ports but not on the front ones, then you need to update your operating system's USB drivers. Access your PC's USB driver settings through the "Device Manager" tab of the "System" tool, and locate all your USB controllers. Click on each controller to check whether it is using a non-Microsoft digitally signed driver. If so, use the "Update Driver" option to automatically update the driver.
Error Codes
-
Most problems with the Lexar Secure II present themselves as error codes. For instance, error code 1004 means your computer cannot detect the JumpDrive, while error code 21037 occurs when you try to exit Secure Software without closing all open files on the drive. If you encounter error 10505, on the other hand, it means the drive is unable to load the required drivers. In this case, merely reboot your computer to fix the problem.
