Lexmark X75 Power Is Not Working

Compatible with Windows and Mac operating systems, the Lexmark X75 all-in-one printer provides printing, scanning and copying options. Power problems with the printer can result from improper connections, faulty cables and damages to internal components. The device, which has a maximum print resolution of 2400 by 1200 dots per inch, is compatible with standard 120V outlets. Use troubleshooting to isolate the cause of your problem so you can determine the best way to fix it.

  1. Cable Connection

    • The Lexmark X75 all-in-one printer won't power on if the power cord isn't properly connected. The silver, metal contacts are on top of the power supply connector. When you connect the power supply to the port on the back of the printer, do so with the metal contacts facing upward; if the metal contacts aren't facing upward, power won't get to the printer. Ensure all of the cables that power the printer are firmly connected to each other. If the cables don't make a firm connection, power may not be transferred to the printer.

    Power Cord

    • The power cord may be the cause of power supply problems. If the power cord is damaged or defective, the electrical outlet won't supply power to the Lexmark X75 all-in-one printer. Power cord damage can be spotted by looking for signs of wear and tear, such as cuts or fraying. Even if you don't see physical damage, try using a different cable to determine if the power cord is defective. X75 power cords aren't built in to the printer and can be replaced. You can purchase a replacement power cable directly from Lexmark or from some electronics stores.

    AC Outlet

    • Try connecting the Lexmark X75 printer to a different outlet. In some cases, the outlet the device is connected to won't supply power. This is especially common if a tripped circuit breaker in the electrical panel cuts power supply to the outlets in a room. To verify whether the outlet is the problem, unplug the printer's power cord and connect a different device to the outlet. If the device works, the issue is with the printer. If it doesn't work, the outlet is the problem. Reset the circuit breaker that controls the outlets in the room the printer is located in. Alternatively, connect the printer to a different outlet to see if you're still experiencing power problems.

    Internal Problems

    • Consistent power problems can be attributed to internal issues. These issues are related to damaged or loose wires, or fried components. If the Lexmark X75 is still not powering on, it will require servicing. If your printer is still under a limited or extended warranty, attempting to repair it yourself will void the warranty, so it isn't in your best interest to do so. Instead, contact Lexmark about having them repair your printer.
