Cascading Bridal Bouquet Ideas
A cascading bouquet is an elegant type of bridal bouquet in which the flowers are arranged in a shape that cascades down over the bride's hand. The cascade usually has a shape like an upside-down teardrop, sometimes with greenery trailing from it. The bouquet may extend just below the bride's hands, or, for a dramatic effect, it may trail several feet down.

Tone
-
The tone of the bouquet should match the tone of your wedding. In a traditional wedding, white often dominates the bouquet, set off with trailing greenery and sometimes enhanced with another color, such as red. The bouquet in a fall wedding can emphasize autumnal colors like orange, red and yellow. It may even benefit from fall leaves or sprays of grain worked into the arrangement. In a more playful or informal wedding, you are free to use bright colors in bold combinations, perhaps even including dyed flowers for an especially vivid look.
Artificial Bouquet
-
Many craft stores sell artificial vines, leaves and flowers that you can use instead of fresh flowers to create a cascading bouquet. An artificial bouquet is less expensive than a fresh bouquet and will not wilt or discolor over time. This means that you can save the bouquet after the wedding. It also provides the opportunity to create your own bouquet long before the wedding, thus eliminating a wedding preparation step from the hectic days leading up to the event.

Long Cascade
-
A bouquet that trails several feet can make a particularly striking impression. Use vines such as ivy, grapevine or honeysuckle as the basis for a long cascade made with fresh plants. Artificial materials are easier to craft into a long cascade, since they are often less fragile than fresh plants. Artificial vines are useful as the base of a long cascade, even with fresh flowers. Use floral wire to attach blossoms to the vines, using wrapped ribbon to hide any unsightly segments.
Flowerless Bouquet
-
One way to create a distinctive cascading bouquet is to use something other than flowers as the basis of the bouquet. For example, you can bind a variety of large colorful buttons together into a cascading arrangement by threading them onto fine silver wire and decorating them with trailing ribbons. Other ideas include beads, origami birds, paper fans, small balloons, or flowers fashioned from the pages of a book. This option also works well for themed weddings. For example, a cascading bouquet of watches, monocles and fine chains would be appropriate decor at a steampunk wedding.
