Printer Updates for the HP PSC 1410
The HP PSC 1410 All-in-One printer gives you the tools you need to scan and print documents or images. HP occasionally releases updates, including software, drivers and utilities, that correct printing problems or add new features. All updates are available to download for free on the HP website.

The HP PSC 1410 printer works with HP Solution Center, an application that helps you manage and troubleshoot problems with the device. For some users, upgrading or installing HP Solution Center 13 introduces an error that affects scanned documents and images. With this error, the printer indicates that scanning is complete but the scanned images do not appear anywhere on the computer. HP released a critical update to correct this problem in February 2011.

Upgrading your computer to Windows Vista or Windows 7 sometimes causes problems with the HP PSC 1410 printer even if the printer worked without issue before. The printer may not accurately read ink levels and the HP print status may not display during a job. The HP Solution Center and Toolbox also sometimes fail to run. In December 2009 HP released a patch to restore printer functionality. The patch only works if the original printer software is installed on the computer, however.

The HP PSC 1410 printer includes software that allows you to manage printing, scanning and device settings. For enhanced features, HP offers the Officejet and Deskjet Software Suite. This software package gives you additional imaging and editing options. For example, the Deskjet software allows you to correct low-quality scanned images or touch up photos before printing. The software package also includes a driver that lets it work with your printer.

HP offers several utilities to make using the 1410 printer easier. The HP Printer Install Wizard, designed specifically for Windows 7, searches the HP website for the latest updates and software for your printer. The HP Scan Diagnostic Utility, created for Windows XP, Vista and 7, allows you to troubleshoot connectivity problems with the printer and other HP All-in-One devices. To use it, you must log in as an administrator on your computer. The HP Print Diagnostic Utility is a similar tool that finds and corrects errors that prevent printing.
