Ventrilo Is Stuck at Synchronizing
“Ventrilo” voice communication software allows friends, colleagues and gamers worldwide to communicate directly. The client connects to a server system running a dedicated program to host multiple users. Each user has a personal client that must connect to a public or private server, and the system may not synchronize with servers for a number of reasons. This results in the client window returning a message showing that the client is stuck synchronizing with the server.
-
Incorrect Server Address or Port
-
Each “Ventrilo” server has a specific address and port number for connection. Users enter the DNS name or specific numerical address of each server from the client interface. You should verify the address and port prior to attempting connection. Incorrect information results in the “Ventrilo” software remaining "stuck" on synchronizing with the server. Incorrect passwords for private servers should return an error message, but will still show the same message, indicating that the system continues to try contacting the server until you correctly enter the password.
Server Outage
-
Failure to connect could indicate that the host server no longer accepts connections at this time. This commonly occurs when a single host has multiple instances of “Ventrilo” running on different ports, but the specific port requested is closed. This can happen when a server customer fails to pay subscription costs and the host closes the port, or if the host’s system goes offline. Incorrect server setup may also cause this problem.

Internet Communication Problems
-
Should your home Internet service provider go offline or your connection fail, “Ventrilo” may return a message indicating continual synchronization. You should verify that your modem or router connections are properly secured, and that you can still access other online content. A connection outage on the server side can also cause the same problem. Many server hosts allow you to contact customer service to verify outages that affect your service.
Other Possibilities
-
Some software programs may cause conflicts with “Ventrilo” that result in this error. You can set anti-virus solutions and firewalls to permit connections from the program through the normal methods provided by each of those programs. Many operating systems have built-in anti-intrusion setups that may also require configuration prior to “Ventrilo” use. Incorrect or corrupt installations of “Ventrilo” may also contribute to this error. Try uninstalling the program and installing the latest version of the client from the “Ventrilo” main site to correct this problem.
