Yahoo! Messenger on a Mac usually freezes, crashes and closes immediately after launch if the program's cache and history interferes with it. Clearing Yahoo! Messenger cache resolves loading problems. To clear the program's cache, click "Finder" on the dock to launch a new Finder window. Click your user name, and then click it again. Open the "Library" folder. If it's hidden, holding the "Option" key, selecting "Go," and then "Library" will enable it. Open the "Caches" folder and drag the com.yahoo.messenger files to the trash on the dock. Delete the Yahoo! Messenger folder as well. Go back to the "Library" folder and open the "Preferences" folder. Drag the com.yahoo.messenger files in this folder to the trash. Delete the Yahoo! Messenger folder and empty the trash bin.
