Help With the iTunes Download on a Dell Mini 10

Download errors are related to the operating system, browser or third-party applications rather than a specific laptop brand or model. In other words, if you're having trouble downloading iTunes, it is probably not due to the fact that you own a Dell Mini 10. The exception occurs only if a certain feature or type of software comes preinstalled on specific models.

  1. Installation Freeze

    • This issue occurs without warning or any error message at all. During the installation, the set up appears to freeze with the status message at the bottom reading "Registering Modules." It stays like that and definitely, until you click "Cancel" or restart the computer. This problem results from security software interfering with the process. Anti-spyware is knows to cause this and it should be temporarily disabled until the installer completes.

    Error Messages

    • Sometimes the download completes successfully, but nothing happens after you click. The error "iTunesSetup.exe is not a valid Win32 application" results from a corrupt download. The setup file is incomplete, and is usually resolved simply by redownloading the file. Use a different browser if it happens again, or update the current browser and try again. Additionally, click "Tools," "Internet Options," "Privacy" and allow "Apple.com" in the list of websites.

    Support Center

    • On your desktop is a program designed to provide quick support for Dell computers. It is called "Dell Support Center" and it lets you check your system for updates to keep everything running efficiently. Some of the fixes included might resolve the error you are experiencing with iTunes. Click the detection scanner and let it scan your system. Click "OK" when prompted to update.

    General Troubleshooting

    • Uninstall iTunes from the Control Panel if you have a previous version installed. Shut down open programs, open the following folder: "C:\Users\Your_Username\AppData\Local\Temp" and delete the contents inside. This folder contains temporary files left over from program installation and can be safely deleted without losing important data. You might receive an error stating some files are in use. In this case, delete as many of the files as you can. Navigate to the Apple website in your Web browser and download the latest release.
