Wear a French crown braid for your wedding.

Crown braids give a regal and elegant look similar to a tiara made of hair. When styled properly, long hair styles with a crown braid are especially flattering for weddings. Many types of braids, such as French braids, Dutch braids, four- or five-strand braids, lace braids or dreadlocks, can be formed into a crown. Crown braids can be decorated with a veil, beads, flowers or ribbons for your special day. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. French Crown Braid

    • The French crown braid has a sleek appearance and is an elegant and sophisticated crown braid style. Create a crown braid by braiding three sections of hair near the crown toward the nape of the neck. Gradually add more hair to each section. Then, pin the hair in place by using bobby pins. The final result shows all the hair in a woven pattern over the scalp. Increasing or decreasing the tension of the braid can change the look.

    Dutch Crown Braid

    • Tying your hair into a Dutch crown braid is a difficult process. A Dutch braid or inverted French braid is a classic braid that is often seen at weddings. Divide each hair section into three parts. After creating the braid, loop it across the back of the head, and secure the braid in place using bobby pins. Then, wrap a second braid around the first braid. Place hair pins throughout it to hold your hair in place.

    Lace Crown Braid

    • Lace crown braids are small accent braids pulled back behind the hairline and intertwined together into a braid. It is similar to the French braid, except that new sections of hair are added to one side of the braid. The remaining hair can be worn loose.

    Dreadlock Braided Crown

    • Women with long dreadlocks can also create a crown hairstyle for a wedding. Create a fitting look by braiding dreads into a crown that encircles the head. Flowers, ribbons, beads and hair accessories can be weaved into the dreadlocks for added charm. Or dreadlocks can be gathered on the crown, secured with bobby pins and large bands, then twisted, braided and folded until they make a large, elegant bun.
