Problems With Rewind on "DJ Hero"
While "DJ Hero" won't turn you into a legitimate record spinner, it does mimic the actions that the pros use. The rewind function in the game not only adds flair to the song you're spinning, but it also allows you to redo a block of bars for maximum points. If you're having trouble with the rewind function, you might not understand the rules for getting points with rewind, but it also could mean that your turntable is malfunctioning. Check both to ensure you're getting the most points out of your rewind function.

Spin Length
-
If your rewind spins aren't registering on screen, it could be that you're not spinning the turntable hard enough. The longer you spin the turntable backward, the more bars you'll be able to repeat for extra points. Spin the turntable around once to receive a four-bar rewind, or spin it backward several time to receive up to eight bars of repeated notes and beats. Not only does a full revolution give you more opportunities for points, it's also easier to resume your finger position on the turntable.
Earning Rewinds
-
When you go without a rewind during a song, it's not necessarily a game or hardware malfunction. In fact, it means you aren't getting the maximum amount of points for that level and probably aren't achieving anything over three stars. Rewinds aren't automatic and they depend upon your performance at a certain difficulty level. If you're playing at beginner level, you must play 20 notes perfectly to achieve a rewind. For easy levels, you'll need 30 notes; for medium, 40 notes; hard, 50 notes; and expert, 60 notes.

Stiff Turntable
-
If your turntable is catching, it's difficult to get a long rewind. The "DJ Hero" turntable should have a smooth operation and should be able to rotate several times with one solid push, which helps you get the best rewinds. Over time or through careless play, the turntable could become stiff. If this is the case, contact Activision to inquire about obtaining a replacement turntable so you can continue becoming a DJ hero with the help of smooth rewinds during game play.
Poor Connection
-
The turntable is connected wirelessly to your game console. If the wireless connection is disrupted for some reason, your game console might not pick up the rewind signal being sent from the turntables. If this is the case, check to ensure that the USB wireless dongle is secure on PS2 and PS3 models and that devices causing wireless interference are away from all consoles during game play. Other wireless devices, such as cordless phones or Bluetooth headsets could disrupt your game play, so remove them or switch them off so your console picks up movements like the rewind.
