Use the correct techniques to accentuate your thin eyebrows.

Perfectly primped and plucked eyebrows draw attention to your eyes while making you seem younger and well-rested. This is also true of thinner eyebrows, which are ideal for smaller eyes, foreheads and faces. However, becoming overzealous with the tweezers leaves some women with brows too thin for their face, creating an uneven balance. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Eye Makeup

    • Draw attention to your thinner brows with the correct eye shadow colors, mascara and application techniques. Use layering to create the illusion that your eyes are bigger than they really are, while still keeping focus on your brows. Apply a base color to your lids. Depending on the occasion or your eye color, choose a hue appropriate for you. For instance, use grey for a day or even look that accentuates any eye color. Accentuate your thin brows with a light coating of off-white or translucent, shimmering shadow on your eyebrow’s crease and the inner corner of the eye. Apply two to three coats of mascara to finish the look.

    Eyebrow Makeup

    • Create a more dramatic look by applying eyebrow makeup to your naturally thin or overplucked brows. Using your finger or an eyebrow brush, sculpt your brow to create a more natural shape. Add a small amount of clear eyebrow gel to help preserve the shape throughout the day. Using a small eyeshadow or brow brush, apply a small amount of powdered eyebrow makeup to the brows. Beginning from the inside corner out, work the powdered makeup into the brows to create the illusion the brows are fuller.

    Darken the Brows

    • Accentuate your thinner brows by applying a darker shade of eyebrow makeup, or fill in the brows with a darker eyebrow pencil. Choose a hue that’s no more than two shades darker than your natural brow or hair color to create this look if you’re currently sporting a lighter hair color. For black or darker brown hair, stick with a shade that closely matches this deeper hue to create an attractive, balanced look.

    Bangs

    • Accentuate your thinner brows with the right bangs for your face shape. Stick with longer blunt-cut bangs if you have a heart-shaped or longer face to hide a larger forehead or to make your jawline appear less severe. Choose wispy, side-swept bangs or straight bangs that are slightly shorter in the middle if you have a round or square face. Avoid heavy, straight bangs if you have a hairline cowlick. Instead, opt for the angled, side-swept look to draw attention to your eyebrows while taming your unruly hair.
