Model Information
-
You need your cooktop model’s information before disassembling the unit. You need the model number. You can find the model number on the front page of your cooktop manual or on a label located on the cooktop’s underside. This label also contains the product serial number. To get basic information about disassembling your cooktop, you only need the model number. However, if you contact GE about your unit, you may also need the serial number.
Parts Diagram
-
GE manufactures many types of Monogram cooktops through the years. You need to know about all the parts it contains and how they connect to one another before attempting disassembly. Find this information on your model’s parts diagram. This diagram shows each individual part of your cooktop, as well as how these parts fit together and affix to one another during assembly. You can get this diagram by contacting GE or by using the Parts Select website. You need your model number to find the parts diagram from this website.

Disassembly
-
Prepare a disassembly site before disassembling the cooktop. Use a workbench for this or a table covered in a tarp or cloth. Using the parts diagram, locate all the seams, fasteners, joints and individual parts of your cooktop. With this information, use a screwdriver, drill and other simple tools to disassemble your cooktop. Disassembling appliances often proves messy, so always wear gloves and work on a surface you don’t mind getting dirty.
Warning
-
Tinkering with your GE Monogram cooktop may void the warranty. Appliance companies void warranties on any products used in any way other than exactly specified in the manual. If your product is out of warranty, don’t need to worry about this factor. If still under warranty, contact GE’s Monogram Preferred Service program before disassembling your cooktop.
